What is MAGENSA?
MAGENSA is a Trusted Verification Authority for
secure online authentication of payment and ID
credentials, data encryption, and other related
business services. MAGENSA consists of a registry
which holds unique forensic properties obtained from
magstripe cards or other tokens, together with a
decryption service, an authentication engine, token
readers, a database of registered tokens and
associated transactions.
MAGENSA enables financial institutions, businesses,
government agencies, and issuers of ID credentials
to rapidly and easily implement systems that can not
only vouch for the authenticity of the credentials
they issue, but are also PCI-DSS and FFIEC
compliant. An important added benefit is that these
systems can be implemented without the need for
substantial investment or changes to the existing
processing infrastructure.
Think of the MAGENSA solution as an “extension cord”
for your enterprise. More aptly, a secure extension
cord that extends the usefulness of your card, the
power of your brand, the strength of your reputation
plus the comfort and familiarity of your business
routines.
Wherever, whenever you go…to extend your whole
enterprise securely, you can easily plug into
MAGENSA.
MagnePrint® Card Authentication Technology
MagnePrint is a proven card authentication
technology that differentiates a customer’s
authentic magstripe card from an altered or
counterfeit version.
MagnePrint is based upon the principle that all
magnetic stripes are intrinsically unique due to the
random distribution of the magnetic particles. When
viewed as an aggregate, the billions of magnetic
particles create a unique magnetic fingerprint which
is referred to as the “MagnePrint”.
The MagnePrint value changes dynamically with every
swipe of the card providing a one time use
verifiable password, obtained from a unique, secure
and non-reproducible token. All magnetic stripe
cards have this property. Thus, MagnePrint has the
additional benefit that there is no need to reissue
cards to consumers. The existing magstripe cards in
the wallets of consumers are already “MagnePrint
enabled” and ready for use.
